Info

The flush sash lift fits into a mortise in the lower rail of a window sash to assist in raising the sash. Although it probably should be called a mortise lift, the name flush lift has been in use since its introduction in 1871. It was first illustrated in the Sargent hardware catalog of 1871:

First appearance of flush lifts, 1871 Sargent hardware catalog.

Like most other types of hardware visible in houses, flush lifts were often produced with Eastlake decoration in the final two decades of the nineteenth century, with simpler designs in the twentieth century. Flush lifts remained in production into the mid-twentieth century.
